Lace wigs are becoming more and more popular.  They utilize a thin transparent lace as a whole or part of the base material of the wig.  Hair is then hand-knotted onto the lace.  To create a seemless, natural appearance, the stylist then does a bit of custimization around the edges of the wig to match the client's natural hairline. The better quality the lace product, the more freedom of movement and natural appearance to the hair.

beyonce with full lace front wigFull lace wigs have a seamless (front) hairline and can be worn up or down.  Your stylist will use her/his expertise and a special adhesive to insure that all edges blend seamlessly along your hairline so that head-on, one should not be able to detect the wig itself.  

Once a
pplied, lace wigs can be worn for extended amounts of time.  A quality Full Lace Unit can also be styled and pulled in virtually any direction and still remain undetected. Lace Front Units are seamless along the front hairline only but they can be pulled away from your face.  Lace wigs are are the lightest and most versatile of all wig types and are perfect solutions for women suffering from alopecia or cancer.

Lace wigs are fairly expensive.  The better the quality, the higher the cost but you'll get a lot of wear out of them.  They are generally made with the finest quality hair and come in straight, wavy and curly styles.

Type of Lace

Lace wigs made be made with Swiss Lace (light lace) or French Lace (medium light lace). The French Lace is somewhat thicker but tends to be more durable. Currently the industry standard is a combination of the two - Swiss Lace front with French Lace in the rest of the cap.
