Firstly, it is important to cleanse your skin at least twice a day with a mild cleanser. When cleansing your skin, remember never use an abrasive cleanser or cloth. The reason for this is that your skin is made up of many thin layers which can be easily torn if too much force is applied, especially on the delicate face. It is best if you use a mild soft cleanser and your fingertips instead. Washing your skin in smooth circular motions with your fingertips will remove dirt and cosmetics from your skin, as well as allow gentle exfoliation of the skin.
Exfoliating the skin is the next most important step for getting good skin. This process will slough off dead skin present on the surface and promote a more youthful and smoother complexion. Also, the number of times you need to exfoliate depends on your skin type. If your skin is on the dry side, then you will only need to seriously exfoliate once a week. However, if it is on the oily side, then you ought to do this about every two days. Keeping your skin clean is fundamentThe third thing that you need to do is almost as basic as cleansing the skin. It is the fact that you need to moisturize your skin everyday. Moisturizing properly will assist you in the exfoliation process, as it removes dead scarred skin while keeping your skin hydrated. You should use light moisturizers and stay away from products that clog up your pores unnecessarily. This however does not mean no baby oil or Vaseline. Moisturizing will improve the look and Texture of your skin, so you need to do so everyday to enhance its quality. Additionally, you should always use sun block whenever you are outdoors, just like everyone else, as the skin of an African American is prone to sunburns.
The last tip we promised is as simple as the other three. That is, drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet everyday, those that are healthy and beneficial to the body. You should always eat leafy green vegetables as they are excellent for anti aging as well as providing necessary nutrients that the body needs. Other types of food that the body can benefit from include nuts, onions, garlic, barley and beans, hot peppers and yogurt. All of them have antioxidants and vitamins present that can develop various parts of the body. As you increase the consumption of these foods, you will gradually notice that your skin is looking better and that you are feeling better inside at the same time!
