Much Ado About Shampoo

What's in Your Shampoo

Generally, shampoos are 80-90% water and contain 2-8% detergents and foaming agents and about 1% fragrance and preservatives.  Based on these numbers alone it's not easy to choose a good shampoo from a bad one.  In the end, it often comes down to personal preferences such as fragrance and foaming ability.

Do Shampoo's Cause Cancer

In 1998, an email chain letter began circulating which stated that many of the common ingredients in shampoos actually cause CANCER...yeah, the Big C.  Here's an excerpt from that email..."BUT the fact is that SLS is used to scrub garage floors, and it is very strong.  It is also proven that it can cause cancer in the long run, and this is no joke."*   Uhm...yeah it is.
