Black? My Cabbage Patch is Black? Isn’t everyone’s Black? Is mine abnormal? My aunt insured that I never played with a White doll. She understood something that I, at the time, could not. For young, Black girls, Positive Reinforcement is everything. There is power behind our play things and the choice between Black or White can spell the difference between self-love and self-loathing.

They resent our taking their men. Black men are two and a half times more likely to marry a white woman than a black woman is to marry a white man. Black women can point to that statistic in justifying their wrath. But in truth, black sisters, we’re after the sex, not the ringand these guys aren’t the marrying kind anyway.

So it may sound strange but I don’t fault these brothas for not marrying us, for not wrapping it up, for calling us out our names. Why? Because before we check them, we need to check ourselves.

I didn’t press him about it but I do wonder if she said, “OH NO! You can’t date a Black girl” or if it was more along the lines of, “BUT SHE’S A NIGGER!”

If you want to see black people really doing it – living the dream, then you should go to America. You can see black people owning jewelery shops, being high up in corporate America, being in positions of political power like Colin Powell too.

What sort of relationship do African Americans have with Native Americans and how do they regard Blacks considering they have the same oppressors have oppressed?

Americans can’t stand mixing with other races but they wouldn’t mind having a mixed partner. Going out with someone mixed with people of other races is acceptable to them. They are still into that light skinned, light eyed, long-haired look.

African-Americans don’t know much about Africa, the UK or anywhere other than the US, but we know about them as well as the West Indies, Canada and Africa.

The West Indians that choose to go to Canada or the States instead of England got far more for their hard work than their UK counterparts.

A black middle class has been established in the States for far longer than it has been over here. They are very far ahead of us in that respect, but they have been over there for four hundred years, we have been here for fifty.
