I must start this post by saying that I have nothing against most women with natural hair but some of you people get on my nerves. In comparison to sisters with relaxed hair who may not have a clue, African American women with natural Black hair can be amongst the most nappy adverse, ill-informed people on the planet.

For women whose hair is gray, white or something in between, and happy with it – my blessings upon you. May you never suffer “white hair discrimination.”

I also believe that stronger you are, the more stubborn, tenacious and determined, the bigger the obstacles set before you. Why? You can’t stop a bull by merely asking it to slow down. Some of us need brick walls to stop our forward momentum, to make us be silent and wait.

Where 50 or so years ago the need for Black History month was evident, today by having a separate holiday, are we saying that we will forever be separate and unequal?

I get what you’re saying but IMHO, it’s the “thugs” who have paved the way for dreads being more acceptable. Like most everything in African-American culture, our style, our music, our way of being began in neighborhoods and “hoods.” By the time it becomes pervasive in the “hood” so to speak, the mainstream is just taking notice.

This whole election just affirms my belief that there are no accidents in life. Everything happens for a reason. God doesn’t make mistakes.
