I’ve been dating my current boyfriend for over 4 years.  He has an older daughter, I have no children.  I’m currently 33 years old and would like to start a family.  Whenever I bring up the subject of kids and marriage, he gives me the run around.

Last night (like many nights over the past four years), he told me he loved me but that he wasn’t sure he was ready to move forward.  When I asked him why, all he could say, all he ever can say is “I don’t know.”

I’m emotionally drained because I have no clue what he wants out of this relationship.  Part of me thinks he’s cheating but I have no proof of it.  Part of me thinks he’s worried that he’s not financially able to take care of more children.  Whatever the reason, he won’t tell me what the problem is and I don’t know what to do.

I love him so much and I don’t want to leave.  If he loves me, why can’t we move forward and if not, why is he still here?
