QUESTION

Americans can’t stand mixing with other races but they wouldn’t mind having a mixed partner. Going out with someone mixed with people of other races is acceptable to them. They are still into that light skinned, light eyed, long-haired look. — AD

Absolutely untrue. Chocolate has been sexy for like a decade now and the light skins dudes aren’t even in style like that anymore. We love all shades of black where I’m from anyway (the NYC area). Now Interracial dating is a totally different topic. Black women HATE seeing a good black man with some white girl. It’s in our DNA to HATE that crap lol but black women are starting to date white men also. Sadly black women in America are more successful, educated and wealthy than black men which makes the dating pool a puddle if we only stick to black men, so naturally we branched out to other races because we didn’t have much of a choice >.<

We see mixed raced folks as black in America as we had the one drop rule here for centuries. That is, if you have one drop of black (African) blood you are black. Also, I disagree with Yolanda; black men are extremely color prejudice here in America. The light-skinned ideal is in full effect here. However, that standard has changed for men. Up until the 80’s black women also preferred lighter-skinned black men but that changed drastically in the 90s and now many black women prefer dark-skinned men.

I think overall, this is true. Chocolate has been in, in terms of males, for a while, but I terms of females…I’d beg to differ. It’s evident in the number of black men going after white men and women who are not black but Asian, Latino etc.
I think now even light skin is not “good enough” for many black men…mixed and other all the way aka self hate.
