QUESTION
White Americans tend to look upon Jamaicans and UK Blacks more favourably than they do African Americans because, whether it is true or not, they believe they have a stronger work ethic. –TT

I guess that’s why their countries are countries are progressing so well. Oops…I forgot…

Historically, West Indians who come to the US did so in search of the educational opportunities available. Because many of those who immigrated to the US weren’t always from their country’s upper class many of them have a strong sense of ethics because they might have grown up without things like indoor plumbing or adequate living standards–something that ‘African-americans’ were able to take advantage of much sooner than those from island countries. Because of that West Indians tend to look down on African-Americans as being lazy.
