Think about it. When you travel on business, do you work harder? In any situation and any race, the smartest people get the hell out of a bad situation for a better one. Because many of those who immigrated to the US weren't always from their country's upper class many of them have a strong sense of ethics because they might have grown up without things like indoor plumbing or adequate living standards--something that 'African-americans' were able to take advantage of much sooner than those from island countries. Because of that West Indians tend to look down on African-Americans as being lazy. Historically, West Indians who come to the US did so in search of the educational opportunities available.
